Aiden Agent Hardware Is Now Aico Link: Product Overview and How to Get Involved
The Aiden Agent hardware is now officially called Aico Link, and our website has moved to aico.link. Aico Link is an AI agent device for compatible phones and computers. It captures the target device’s screen over HDMI. The Aico Agent running on the device uses a configured multimodal model to understand the interface and plan its next step, then sends touch, keyboard, or pointer input over USB HID. This lets users give voice or text instructions and have Aico interact with apps and carry out multi-step tasks. The target device must support video output and USB HID input. iOS devices also require AssistiveTouch.
Aico Link is the name of the hardware, while Aico is the AI Agent that runs on it. The rename does not change the project’s technical direction or open-source commitment. We will continue developing the firmware and device-side Agent runtime in the open. The former domain, aidenai.io, currently redirects to the new website.
Get Started Without a Development Board
The project provides a Docker-based PC environment that runs Config Web and Agent Web. You’ll need Docker Desktop or Docker Engine with the Compose plugin, Git, and an API key for your model provider. Follow the PC development guide to get started:
git clone https://github.com/AidenAI-IO/aico-link.git aico-link-firmware
cd aico-link-firmware
make sandbox-start
Once the services are running, open Config Web at http://localhost:8000 and Agent Web at http://localhost:8080. You can configure a model, try the Agent, contribute to software such as tools, skills, memory, the configuration interface, and documentation, or run task workflows and report issues.
To test how the Agent sees and interacts with a screen, connect an environment bridge such as MobileGym or Android ADB. Without a bridge, Config Web and Agent Web remain available, but the Agent has no external screen to observe or control. Testing hardware features such as HDMI/CSI capture, USB HID control, onboard audio, and power management requires a physical device.
Software Highlights
Recent software updates focus on helping the Agent stay on track during longer tasks and handle screen interactions more carefully. When conversations grow long or tool results are large, Aico can carry forward recent task information, reducing the chance that a task will stall during context handling. Memory updates now check record revisions to help prevent outdated information from overwriting newer corrections. During a sequence of taps, the Agent checks the target screen and stops the remaining actions if it cannot capture a baseline frame or the screen changes. The software also adds native support for Anthropic’s Messages API and brings model, speech recognition, and speech synthesis settings into a consistent configuration flow. Phone notifications can be added to the Agent’s shared context, selected iOS tasks support background wake-ups, and the device’s Python environment persists across reboots. Together, these improvements support longer-running tasks, more cautious screen interactions, and a more flexible development experience.
Expanding Hardware Compatibility
The firmware now supports RK628D and TC358743 HDMI bridges, and includes improved access-point roaming within the same Wi-Fi network.
These features are still being tested. See the current development release.
Join the Community and Beta Testing
We’re continuing to recruit early users to help build and beta-test Aico Link. Early users will receive priority access to prototype units. You can get involved without a development board by trying the Docker environment, testing workflows, reporting issues, or improving documentation. If you have an Android device or another test environment, you can also help test screen interactions through an environment bridge.
To take part, contact us through our official WeChat or Discord channels and tell us what you’d like to test and what devices or environments you have available. Visit the Aico Link GitHub repository to explore the code and development resources.
